Main differences between the OPI Axxium Soak-Off Gel Lacquers & the OPI Gel Colors are
1. Axxium coloured gels and OPI Gel Colors are both soak-off formulas.
2. Axxium is stocked in 50 popular OPI shades whereas Gel Colors is stocked in 30 popular OPI shades.
3. Both must be cured in UV lamps and require extended direct contact with pure acetone for removal at the salon..
4. Axxium comes in a honey-gel texture. It comes in little pots and is thicker on the application brush than polish. Gel Color is also a gel which is more like a shellac texture (in between a gel and a polish). It comes in opaque bottles that look like normal OPI polish bottles.
5. Axxium requires 2 minutes per coat under fluorescent UV light bulbs to cure. Gel Color on the other hand, being an LED-sensitive formula takes shorter. On average, Gel Color basecoat cures in 10 seconds under LED UV light bulbs and Gel Color colors cure in 30 seconds per coat under LED UV light bulbs.
6. Soaking off Axxium takes about 20 to 25 minutes in pure acetone. Gel Color seems to take about five or 10 minutes less than Axxium.
